Field Visit of Galle Fort
In the beginning
we supposed to do our team Work. For that we made our way to particular
locations which we given. We had to given 4 Streets under that. There called
Church St, Queens St, Hospital St and Peddler St. So we went through the
streets and observed their architectural value, Street escapes, and different
purposes of Buildings Etc.
Then Galle fort
was built by Portuguese and Fortified by Dutch. Therefore we could identify
many of ancient European Architectural Significations. Curve shape windows and
doors, Special roofs are like that, at the same time we had to identified the
present usage of Buildings and different types of activities also. So we
observed that things too. In major activities of that place were tourism
activities and some government offices were in there. As a part of that another
kind of activities have been occurred.
So after
that we were went sea and had small fun and happy feeling from that. Then after
that at about 5 o' clock again we got the bus and made our way for come back to
the university.
I have to
say something about preservation of Galle fort. Further Some Historical
Buildings are threated by nature, growing plants on the walls and some walls
already have been broken. Further as I seem another large problem was
administrative Buildings. RDA, Division Court and many of other Government
buildings were centralized in there. So as World Heritage Suite It's a bad
thing. Because some time it's cause to be damage for the heritage suite. So I
think Government should be intervention and get much more action to the
conserve this Large Heritage Suite.
So, Galle
Fort Field Visit was a good Journey. We could get ore knowledge and more fun
from that field visit too. Further it was help us to get good opinion about,
"How should save our Heritage".
